In partnership with Union Theological Seminary Pride in the Pews hosted its annual symposium entitled “State of the Black Church: Reconciling Communities and Reimagining Inclusion” in New York City.

Pride in the Pews, the Office of State Representative Lamont J. Robinson, and Trinity United Church of Christ honored Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., and Bishop Yvette Flunder for their contributions to the LGBTQ+ rights movement. The virtual event brought together faith leaders, activists, academics, and LGBTQ+ allies to celebrate the historic and present-day role that Black faith leaders play in advancing the LGBTQ+ rights movement. Leading figures such as Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III, Illinois State Rep. Lamont J. Robinson, and Rev. Don Abram will paid homage to the honorees to inspire a new generation of faith-based activists committed to LGBTQ+ equality.
